Testing and Evaluation of NLP Systems

Software developers currently have available numerous testing
tools and approaches which are the result of software testing
research. There is also a wealth of experience and methodologies
for the evaluation of NLP systems that has come out of the
natural language understanding community. This talk will explore
whether testing and evaluation are merely different terms applied
to the same concepts, or whether they are in fact different
activities which can be combined during the development of NLP
software.
