Technical Director, Business Innovation Sevices, IGS

The Wimbledon Tennis Championships generate a great deal of interest throughout the world, both on television and on the Internet, where the web-site handles one of the highest 'hit-rates' of any site in the world. IBM is the Official IT Supplier and Consultant to the All England Lawn Tennis Club and this talk will cover the background to IBM's involvement at Wimbledon. It then discusses the systems used during the Championships, both for TV/Media and the Internet, including various design points used for the core systems capturing the statistics and building TV graphics. For the internet, the web content is covered along with key principles of operation. This is followed by a high level view of the project plan and resources - plus a few lessons learned.
