Abstract

IT is, and has been, changing ever more rapidly. What at one point in time was utilised by very few is now an accepted part of society and is practised by the many. The next potential leap in usage, that of widespread e-commerce, seems to be "just around the corner". These changes in society's use of IT has been mirrored within the University of Edinburgh, and this talk will attempt to look at what changes will be required by Edinburgh and by other Higher Education establishments in the near future.
