- Abstract:
Array privatisation is usually viewed as being one of the most
important loop transformations in automatic parallelisation. This
paper takes the view that each array or data structure in a scientific
program can be prejudged as being either shared or privatised based on
what it's data represents. Consequently, this property, the
structure's plurality, is constant throughout the program. Far from
being restrictive, it is argued that this concept aids the
parallelisation process. The theory has been used in the construction
of an interactive compiler for Fortran 77. Results are presented for
the parallelisation of the SPEC CFP95 benchmarks by the prototype
compiler.
